Searching Basic Business Data via VAT, Step by Step
General Information
Through the General Secretariat for Information Systems (GSIS) service, legal persons, legal entities, and natural persons with income from business activity can search for basic information in order to ascertain the tax or professional status of other legal persons or legal entities or taxpayers/natural persons engaged in business activity, by searching for their VAT number.
The service aims to combat the issuance of fake and virtual data by tax non-existent persons and is provided following an opinion of the A.P.D.P.H. (No. 1/2011) and in accordance with article 20 of Law No. 3842/2010 Restoration of tax justice, combating tax evasion and other provisions and subparagraph (j) of Article 17 of Law No. 4174/2013 on the Code of Tax Procedure.
Step by Step
- You must know your company codes for GSIS.gr (if you don’t know them, ask your accountant)
- Click here to go to the GIS page, where you will need to enter your username and password, click Login and Activate the service (as shown in the images below)
- Login to the following page (by clicking here)
- In the ‘Available Services’ tab press the ‘Create Special Code’ button
- In the form that appears, enter at least one character and one number in the Input Code. We suggest 6 to 10 characters and they must be all uppercase English
- In the User Password, we again recommend uppercase English 6 to 10 characters and at least one symbol, one letter and one number. (Symbols & % are forbidden)
